I have started creating some of my characters in digital form and toyed with several different forms.

Long story short, go to drakurredragon.deviantart.com to check them out. I'll also be creating character pages for many of the prominent individuals in my army, linked from the Force Organization page. I've already created one for Chapter Master Drakur Redragon.

Short update, but check it out!Drakur Kanotae Redragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14364856272349247498noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778681439461388364.post-716632496856439842011-08-22T13:40:00.000-07:002011-08-22T13:40:46.349-07:00Subjugation of Margoth, Day 2
Day 2 of the basement campaign, a glorious day indeed. After talking about the campaign with my uncle, I found that I had played the first round wrong. Turns out, everyone plays only one game. Using the turn order, Player 1 chooses the person they are attacking. If they choose player 3 or 4, then player 2 attacks the other one. If they choose player 2, then player 3 attacks player 4. Then, two games are played and everyone plays. Makes things a lot easier and quicker.

So we did it that way. Becky attacked Michael, and Nick was then forced to attack me. I played my game against Nick and helped out Becky and Michael, since they don't have the level of experience that Nick and I do. Fun fun.

Our game:

Deployment...all my stuff, none of his. Wave Assault mission, he split his army into three parts, one part comes in each turn for three turns. Randomly decided, of course. Nick is sitting over there drinking soda at this point.

Yay! Stuff to kill!!

Sgt Getsum and a squad of Sternguard Veterans staring down a hive tyrant

Oh yeah....get some...

I ended up getting a victory for it, but as the defender it only meant that Nick the attacker didn't get a territory. I ended up with a level, getting Master Psyker. By the time that we finished our game, all 4 turns of it, Becky and Michael were....halfway through the top of turn 1. Oi.

Pics from them:

Deployment, all round defense with Michael as the defender.

Halfway through:

So, she finally rolled 6 shots with an exorcist, targeting a normal squad of marines. And the roll to hit with a BS of 4 (need 3s or better)

And the to Wound roll, needs 2s or better.

Yep, a bucket of fail that was. Awesome.

She ended up winning with a massive gambit assisted by me. Edged out in victory points by 76. She took a territory. So now Michael will be in slot one, choosing who he attacks. Another day of glory will follow.Drakur Kanotae Redragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14364856272349247498noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778681439461388364.post-73412802418706585652011-08-19T17:00:00.000-07:002011-08-19T17:00:01.299-07:00An acquisition for my brother-in-lawSo, Nick's dad bought him a nice lot for pretty cheap. Unfortunately, the idiot that shipped them didn't care about the lot at all. The person even used rubber cement to assemble their models. It is a pain to try to reassemble it. I actually broke my knife blade trying to carve out the incredibly crappy cementing job this idiot did.

But hey, it was cheap. 97 Hormagaunts, 28 Termagants, 2 Carnifexes, 2 Tyrants, 1 Old One Eye, 3 Zoanthropes, 26 Genestealers, 15 or so Warriors, and a few other bits and fun stuff. All for 270. And then began the reassembly.

Almost every genestealer was broken, 10 or so gaunts were broken, half the warriors, both fexes, old one eye, and both tyrants...all broken. It was a lot of work to attempt to put it all together. But hey, now there is a large collections of stuff for him to use. Plus, using the extra bits, we were able to cobble together some conversions.

A Swarmlord...also known as Turtle.

And a broodlord, also known as Dunce...

The models are legit WYSIWYG, even if they look a little strange. I mean, the turtle swarmlord looks funny, but a little paint might make him look pretty nice. Not my finest conversions, but it was fun to play with them. The swarmlord is actually a ravenor, which would have needed two more to even be taken. The Broodlord was a genestealer that we didn't have arms for. So hey, two models out of useless bases isn't too bad.

Orks vs Nids vs Angels. I ended up edging out as victor, though I did find that three way games tend to be unfair to someone. Without intention, mostly because of the board layout, we ended up ganging up on Nick. It was still fun to do, and we actually started doing experience for special characters like in the league primer (see Aki's blog for more details.

Hey look, nids!

All in all, a fun game. But I don't think I'll be running 1v1v1 games anymore. Someone always seems to get ganged up on, and if 2000 points descend on 1000, it isn't much of a fight.

It began with a planetstrike mission, as my forces landed to reclaim the planet from the ork horde now infesting it. We decided to use our special characters that we would use for the campaign as well. It was certainly an interesting battle to say the least.

I brought a full 10 man squad of terminators with my Epistolary character and a Sanguinary priest. Both the independent characters were in terminator armor as well. My original intent was to deep strike them in and then assault (which planetstrike allows you to do if they have the deep strike special rule already), but the positioning of the orks would provide me a greater opportunity. The rest of my list was comprised of some death company, a death company dread, an assault squad, and my land raider redeemer. Over half my points were in that terminator squad...totally worth it.

So, in Planetstrike, one side is defending a fortress type thing while the other takes it. I was the attacker, he was the defender. So, what dirty tricks did he have up his sleeve? Well, for starters, he didn't deploy. Everything he had was in reserve. So very annoying. He also had his interceptor guns lined up, but my firestorms took care of that. He rolled for his reserves, and his bikers came in on my edge. With that, he was able to tear apart my death company dread on his first turn with his Nob bikers. But that was just the beginning of fun. They were now at the table edge that I came in on. Terminator squad walks onto the edge and tears apart that squad of bikers, led by a warboss. Next turn, he would come in with the other squad and assault me. Terminator squad tears through that squad of bikers too.

On the other side of the field, two squads of boys showed up. So, I did what any other commander would do: dropped a crapload of space junk on their heads. 4 good sized craters tore through a good number of the boys. What was left met my death company that dropped in and tore through some more. In the end, though, I lost that squad to the second squad of boys. My assault squad in my land raider decided that the middle of the battle would be a good time to get coffee at the bastion. So they did. Kicked their feet up, sipped some coffee, told funny stories. Yeah.

In the end, we called the game by turn three. I had three squads and a tank left, he had half a boys squad left. There was absolutely no way he could have won. Plus, we had already been playing far too long for a small game like that (we were easily distracted by the awesome food he always makes when I come over). The victory allowed me to level up my character, who took Eternal Warrior (yay, no more instant death worries) and I will get an extra territory in the coming campaign. More will follow on our first game next Wednesday.

NOTE: The campaign rules are a slightly modified version of the Inquisitor's Map Based Campaign Primer, found on Inquisitor Lord Aki's blog (check my followers).Drakur Kanotae Redragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14364856272349247498noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778681439461388364.post-37112507605844424692011-07-31T23:19:00.000-07:002011-07-31T23:19:52.464-07:00Battle of Guran Plains, Subjugation of MargothEpistolary Carrick stood on the hill overlooking the plains below. He allowed himself a smile, looking over the forces of Hive Fleet Tartarus. It wasn't the first time that they would meet. On Addassartus and on Gunron, Tartarus and Angelus Mortis had clashed hard and fast. He had been a part of both campaigns, and this one would be no different. He looked to the sergeant standing nearby.

"Sergeant Yarro, assemble your terminator squad and follow me. Sgt Estar, place half your squad at the back of the field, and take the other half with the razorback and surge forward. Sgt King, take your assault squad with the Redeemer and ram it straight into the enemy lines," Carrick ordered. "Drive the enemy back to their damned tendril and back into the deep dark of space!"

With that, he led the charge forward at the head of five terminators. Storm bolters belched explosive rounds into the carnifexes barreling towards them. With a crack of energy, a red lance darted from his fingertips, slicing through one of the lumbering beasts. The cyclone launcher on the back of one of the terminators fired several high explosive rounds into a beast.

Lascannon fire from the razorback and heavy bolter rounds cracked the sky, tearing into the other creatures that took the field. In moments, Carrick and his terminators were within striking distance. He brandished his force sword and struck down one of the mighty beasts, pouring his anger and hatred into the psychic force of the attack. The other beast fell before the combined might of power fists striking home against it.

Suddenly, the ground underneath shook with violence that threatened to bring the entire force to its knees. Rising from the ground was a feared creature, a Trygon Prime. It fired off several great salvos into Carrick and his men, forcing the sergeant into unconsciousness. Without hesitation, Carrick plunged his sword into the great creature, focusing his entire mind into the strike. The warp threatened to claw through his psyche and rip him to shreds, but he forced it back down and into his strike. With a great shudder, the beast fell to the ground.

As the beast hit the ground, Sgt Estar took his half of the squad and led an attack to mop up the remaining gaunts nearby. Sgt King led his assault squad into the maw of the enemy hive tyrant, risking life and limb in the assault against the much larger and more powerful creature. The thirst for blood took over, and King's Krushers charged without fear or hesitation. The hive tyrant couldn't hope to stand against the onslaught and fell to the powerful soldiers. With his death, the enemy had been driven from the plains. Carrick led his men to secure the territory when a vox came in from Drakur, the Chapter Master.

"Epistolary Carrick, you have done well. Your success is to be highly lauded. Your forces are to pull back and secure a nearby manufactorum. The position will be easier to defend, and the benefits will be of much use to our continued endeavours."

My brother in law Michael, his girlfriend Becky, and my other brother in law Nick all sat to begin this. Michael plays space marines and chose Chief Librarian Tigurius (renamed Joe) as his commander. Becky, playing Orks, chose a Warboss (Warboss Waaaagh) as her commander. Nick, playing as the Tyranids, chose a hive tyrant as his first commander. He would later switch it to a Tyranid Prime named Hades. I chose an Epistolary, Epistolary Carrick, in full terminator armor and carrying a storm shield as my commander.

The map was set up so that each person would have a spaceport and six surrounding territories with a single territory splitting each of the four areas. Several buildings were randomly placed, and we all rolled off to determine who picked which spaceport. After the stage was set, we all declared our attacked and played them out.

Map laid out:

With that done, we began our games. Nick was attacked twice, once by me and once by Michael. Nick attacked Becky, and Becky attacked Michael. All in all, I fought one battle, Michael fought two, Becky fought two, and Nick fought three.

My game against Nick ended in a sound victory for me. It was a Vanguard mission from the battle missions book, so it was technically an objective based game. I, however, tend to play straight annihilation only. After all, I generally don't hold objectives well with a high mobility army. Plus, an army without any models left can't very well hold objectives.

Sgt Getsum took the field as part of a tactical squad, finishing a unit of gaunts. My commander slew two carnifexes and a trygon prime. He ended up gaining a level, getting +1 to his attack. Nick's commander was lost, but suffered no ill effects and returned to battle the next game.

-----------------------------------------

After those two games, it was time for Nick to face Becky. Of course, I was a genius and forgot to take pictures of this game (mostly because the pizza I ordered had arrived....mmmm....pizza....). It was an absolute route. Becky had to deploy in a table quarter, and Nick deployed 12" away from that quarter. Nick went first, and by the end of Becky's turn he had nothing left...a tabling in the first turn...

Nick lost his commander, who would take severe damage and wouldn't have been able to take the field. Nick returned him to the Hive Fleet and replaced him with Hades, a Tyranid warrior prime.

Becky's Warboss gained a level, earning the Preferred Enemy: Space Marines special rule.

-------------------------------------------

The final battle took place between Michael and Nick. Michael ended up the victor by a narrow margin. By the end, both held an objective, causing the game to go to victory points. Michael won based on that. Nick's Hades would survive the battle unscathed, and Michael's Librarian Joe gained a level, earning himself the Eternal Warrior special rule.

It's a 4'x8' table that actually folds in half and latches to the wall, making it store well and free up the room in my basement. A special thanks to my father in law and brother in law for helping me put this puppy together.

I also have two shelves full of terrain, all modular for different board configurations. I took several pieces of green felt and stapled it to the plywood to cover the wood and give a nice surface to play on. It doesn't hurt that it looks like grass too!
So, there it is. My table of awesome is, well, awesome. Already got four games in on it too, and it hasn't even been there for 2 days. Nice thing is, when I am running the campaign in my house, we can split the table into two 4x4 pieces and run two games at once, that way we can get them all over in a night.Drakur Kanotae Redragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14364856272349247498noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778681439461388364.post-13543902709948235622011-07-30T20:12:00.000-07:002011-07-30T20:13:45.660-07:00Subjugation of Margoth, The PrologueMargoth, an insignificant planet on the fringe of the galaxy. Recently colonized by the Auretians with the help of the Angelus Mortis, it is a planet rich with minerals. Nothing spectacular except for the secret projects occurring on its surface. An Ork Warboss beaten into submission is held prisoner there, and the Auretians are looking for a way to subjugate these vicious beasts to their will.

An Inquisitorial mandate brings an Ultramarines sub chapter into the sector to destroy the facilities and raze it all to the ground. Nothing should be allowed to live. To the Inquisition, consorting with the Xenos is akin to consorting with Chaos.

Another Warboss, hearing of this injustice and seeking to make a name for himself (mostly seeking to make a name for himself), makes his way to the planet. Krumpin 'umies who mess wit da orks. Certainly nothing that they could allow.

And a Shadow of the Warp looms over it all. A long sleeping tendril of a well known foe. Hive Fleet Tartarus arrives on Margoth, seeking to consume all in its path.

The stage is set and the are all ready to play their parts, but the script is still waiting to be written. A script written in blood.
------------------------
This is the beginning of a campaign I am running in my home using the Inquisitor's Map Based Campaign Primer and my (new) planetary empires set. We will be starting tomorrow and running it every other Sunday. Updates will follow as each day passes.Drakur Kanotae Redragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14364856272349247498noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778681439461388364.post-41491613832603169032011-07-30T08:54:00.000-07:002011-07-30T08:54:09.066-07:00A new hero emerges...So, I've been playing for some time as the Blood Angels, and I usually play true to form with the high mobility. Assault squads, dreads in drop pods, and the occasional Stormraven are my staples. Every once in a while, though, I field a unit a little bit different. Tactical and Devastator squads are rarities because they lack the mobility and close combat power of my assault squads and death company, but I do use them. And thus, a hero emerges...

Sergeant Marius "Getsum" Estar. Originally a tactical sergeant in one of my early games, he was the sole survivor of a demon prince attack on his squad. He turned around and soundly defeated the demon prince himself, earning him the title of "Getsum". Since then, I field that same model several times. Sometimes he does little, other times he tears things apart. But one thing he never does is die. At least, not yet.

So now, without further ado, he has his own facebook page. He really needed one, for all his glorious exploits. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sergeant-Marius-Getsum-Estar/227390580630815 Oh yeah, that's right.Drakur Kanotae Redragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14364856272349247498noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778681439461388364.post-4763959163013625232011-05-09T08:16:00.000-07:002011-05-09T08:16:51.869-07:00Day 1, Assault on AddassartusDay 1 of the campaign was fought, and it was indeed a bloodbath. Nightking won the attacker position, and my forces were embattled on all sides. I hired mercenaries to help out, and with them I was able to drop some serious pain on the monstrous creatures, gaining victory. I took a nearby territory successfully, gaining a manufactorum. Fluff below.

=Day 1=

Drakur sat in the tower, going over his fleet and troop movements, insuring that his chapter was well supported in all their endeavors. The war in the False Hope sector had drained many of the Chapter’s resources, but they were still active in the fight against Chaos. They had met a new enemy there, one that they would not soon forget. Hive Fleet Tartarus. Drakur’s lip unconsciously curled into a snarl as the thought crossed his mind. He looked up just before a soldier burst into the chamber.

“Master Redragon, we have just received a distress call from Addassartus,” the soldier blurted out between pants.

“And this concerns me how?” Drakur asked, looking back at his board. Though he had saved these people, he didn’t want to be beholden to their every whim. He was trying to refortify his positions after a protracted campaign; he didn’t have time to deal with a rabble that had lost their way.

“Sir, General Kraxus called…” Drakur looked up. That was a man that he respected. He wasn’t a man to call without dire need. “Tartarus has come.” Drakur stood to his full height, tapping a vox on his desk.

“Perno, I have need of your council,” he stated in a monotone voice. The reply came exactly as Drakur expected.

“I was just on my way to see you,” he said back. Drakur knew that it wasn’t a lie. The man had been on his way to see Drakur. He looked to the soldier that had come. “We will deal with this.”

Perno stood near the head of the table, joined by the bearer of the Grail Mortis, a powerful chalice granted to the fledgling chapter, and several senior members of the Sanguinary Guard and the First Company. At the head of the table stood Drakur himself, clad in the golden armor of his position.

“We have only a few vessels in the immediate area, master,” one of the veterans reported. “A few assault squads, some land raiders, several members of the Sanguinary Guard, and a few dreadnoughts. It is nothing to mount an offense or defense with against the coming horde.”

“We will make do with that. Reroute them to Addassartus. The enemy will attack head on, and we will meet them head on,” Drakur stated. “I have someone that owes me a favor. I will see if they have anything nearby. Make it happen, prepare to mobilize the main force from here to land and take on the enemy.”
Drakur stood, abruptly ending the meeting. He immediately went to his office and activated his longer range communicator. He searched for a signal that the Inquisition would have his head for seeking. He wasn’t going to lose this planet or any other to Tartarus.

“Shas’O Krais Shovah,” he said, reaching out to the Tau commander he had once assisted in combat.

“Master Redragon, it has been some time. Seeking to call in the favor we owe you, I assume?” the voice responded.

“Indeed. Addassartus, a planet we recently colonized, has been struck hard by a Tyranid force. The regiment sent to protect the colony did not see the enemy coming, and now they are under great threat. I need some of your troops to help defend this colony,” Drakur explained.

“And what specialty do you desire?” the commander asked hesitantly.

“I know that you are capable of long range engagements. Anything you can provide to that effect will be greatly appreciated. They will be protected by my own assault troops I have in range of the planet. Once this initial battle is over, my reinforcements will be arriving to take over,” Drakur explained.

“I will have three broadsides on hand for you, railguns ready. Good luck, Master Redragon, and may the greater good prevail,” the commander responded.

The Reaper hovered, looking over the landscape. In the distance, he could see the enemy coming towards them. Slowly but surely, they were coming. Several of the Angelus Mortis vanguard units had joined him on the battlefield, as well as a small unit of Tau. He smiled beneath his mask. Auretia would be protected.

The enemy reached the soldiers of Angelus Mortis, but they were ready. Railguns and lascannons blasted apart the larger creatures, a Thunderhawk dropped a Land Raider Redeemer in the middle of a swarm, and dreadnoughts dominated the battlefield. The Phantom, an extremely intelligent and strategically minded Prime had led his forces to success thus far, but this battle was much different.

The Reaper led the charge into the Phantom’s unit of Carnifexes. It was a brutal battle, a vicious fight to the death, but the Reaper emerged victorious. A glorious battle ensued. In the last moments, a Defiler took the field, attempting to add to the Chaos of the combat. A hidden assassin chose to reveal itself in that moment, and deal it a decisive blow, preventing it from causing any more damage.

As the fires of battle died down, nothing remained of the Tyranid assault force. The Tau returned to their commander and the assassin faded back into the darkness. The Reaper, seeing his job complete, took flight to another world. In the end, the bloody battle was a victory for the Angelus Mortis.Drakur Kanotae Redragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14364856272349247498noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778681439461388364.post-80980593232494847342011-05-04T13:26:00.000-07:002011-05-04T13:26:06.818-07:00Assault on AddassartusI have started a small scale campaign with my brother, now, hoping to keep our games a little more interesting. It is called the Assault on Addassartus. I'm borrowing some info from Inquisitor Lord Aki, mostly his campaign primer and mapmaking methodology, to help it along. The primer is found here. The mapper is simply a free hex mapper found online. Really doesn't matter which one, just find one you like.

The story is as follows:

Addassartus, a rich planet on the fringe of the imperial arm. Lush vegetation untouched by war and rich mineral deposits unravaged by any. No intelligent life forms to speak of. A planet ripe for the picking…

The surveyor ship came to a halt in orbit of the planet. Captain Marcus of the Auretian Surveyor Corps stood on the bridge, looking over the data streaming to him personally. He nodded and mumbled to himself, not bothering to even look up when General Kraxus walked onto the bridge. The old general cleared his throat loudly.

“Captain Marcus, what do we have?” he asked excitedly. The Auretian Senate had assigned his unit to guard the surveyors as they looked to expand their reach, all to assist their saviors. General Kraxus, however, was more excited at the prospect of battle than a new world to colonize. Marcus finished his reading before speaking.

“Well, General, it looks like your forces may not be entirely necessary. The planet is devoid of all intelligent life, human or xeno. Even Chaos doesn’t seem to have a hold here. But, perhaps you can consider this a vacation,” Marcus offered. He gave the orders to land the colonization fleet nearby and begin setting up their operations.

Kraxus scoffed and left to prepare his men. He wasn’t going to be caught unaware, that was for sure. His regiment, only several hundred strong, would at least be enough to defend until reinforcements came. At least, that was the hope.

==Log 11247, General Kraxus==

They came without warning, silent as a gathering cloud. With all the force of a bolt of lightning, the forces of Hive Fleet Tartarus crashed into Addassartus. They attacked with all their might, hoping to devour the biological flora and fauna to create their own swarm. We were pushed back, and the regiment that had once been the 35th Auretian rifles was decimated. I have sounded the distress call, hoping to call the reinforcements before we lose the whole planet.

============================================

I'll post the results of each day as they come. We will see who shall be victorious. Hive Fleet Tartarus or Angelus Mortis?Drakur Kanotae Redragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14364856272349247498noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778681439461388364.post-37588269103508930992011-04-19T12:06:00.000-07:002011-04-28T09:45:36.124-07:00And another break in timeSo again, I have not posted in a few months. Time always seems to get away these days, and more often than not its being stolen by work. I haven't actually gotten a chance to build anything recently, heck I even have a model that was ordered that I haven't even picked up. But that's okay, because the reasoning is decent...

(Drumroll please)...

I'm buying a house! Paperwork is all signed, settlement is on the 24th of May. Once we actually get the house and move out of my inlaws, I will have so much more space and freedom to do as I please. So, my designs for my new Fortress of Nerditude...in the basement of course.

Foldout table built into the wall. 3-4'x6', hinged in the center with support beam underneath it.
Bookshelves to store all of my books, models, and equipment
Spray box with exhaust fan
Modeling table to do all of my gluing and modeling

On a somewhat related note, I have been playing hard for a year now. I make no secret of my nerd-dom, either. But last Saturday, for the second time now, someone in my family has told me that I need to play 40k. Seriously. First time was my uncle, back when I was moving home. Now, my brother has said the same thing, But hey, I am now able to impart my gaming wisdom (and considerable library) to him.

So anywho, I intend to actually start assembling, painting, and playing once I get my house.
So, my first batch of Christmas presents are in!! So far, I have come out with three sanguinary guard, an assault squad, a librarian, a terminator captain, and a vindicator tank. I also have a whole bunch of ork heads. (Thanks Mom!!) Nothing else, just the heads. I'll explain that one later.

So, if anyone has ever tried to put together assault marines, they know that the contact point of the foot to the base is hardly enough for any real hold from any glue, short of maybe literal cement. They were nice with the sanguinary guard, at least, and put a rock under their foot to increase the amount of surface area in contact with the base. Well, that's great for them, but I love me some assault marines!! Then suddenly, an idea came to me.

People always told me to use little stones or something under the elevated foot, but I didn't want to go find/buy a bunch of rocks. I decided to go a little different direction. I bought ork heads. $0.99 per 5, they were pretty cheap. Now they'll be glued to the base and have a foot glued to them. If it works decent, I might try other body parts or features underneath the foot. Pictures will certainly follow as I get them (and my other units) put together and painted up.

In the mean time, a google image search brought up these gems below. Enjoy. (Props for anyone that can tell me the base model used for Santa).

What follows is the fluff from a recent kill team battle I had with my brother. I just figured I'd have a little fun with it.

Sgt King led his squad of veterans carefully thought the old battlefield. They had been sent to gather some intel from a collapsing bastion that had been the target of particularly heavy fighting. He picked his way through the debris and the barricades that had been set up to defend the line carefully, not wanting to fall victim to foolish footing. He looked around him in the dead quiet of the dawn, puzzled by the foreboding feeling washing over him. He opened a vox channel in his helmet.

“Carlos, Jonathan, take your heavy bolters and get into positions with full field of view,” King said into the open channel. Wordlessly, the two heavy bolter wielding soldiers moved to the few still standing barricades and hefted their weapons into position.

“In position sir,” came the whispered reply. They felt it too. Sanguinus’ blood was in all of them, and for that reason they had all learned to trust their instincts. This was especially true for the veterans of the First Company. They had all been through thousands of battles, and with each one their instincts honed further.

King tuned his lightning claws a little, letting the hum of the power weapons fill his head. He felt it, the red thirst, tugging on his mind. He couldn’t let it prevail, especially not if there were not enemies on the field. He quieted his mind and soul as he had done a thousand times before, then continued his march to the ruined bastion.

King led the remaining three veterans of his patrol team towards the bastion, carefully picking out his path to be sure that he and his men could dive for cover should something happen. The feeling of foreboding was growing with each step that they took towards the tower, and each of his men held their weapons just that much tighter.

Without warning, the auspexes lit up with the presence of other biologicals. King grinned, baring his fangs. He blessed Sanguinus for his gift of foresight and started immediately barking orders to his squad. They dove for cover immediately, having been prepared for this to happen.

“Sir, 20 bugs just popped out of the ground and are bearing down on us. No ranged weapons among the lot,” Carlos said into his vox. Immediately after, the echoing sound of bolter rounds tearing into flesh rolled across the old battlefield. “18.”

Jonathan fired his own heavy bolter, tearing through more. The other three veterans let their boltguns come to life in their hands, firing the special hellfire rounds that they had been given especially for killing these creatures. King touched on the building rage and power beneath the noble mind of a space marine, feeling the power underneath. He leapt from his cover and charged into the enemy in a headlong rush. As the bolters screamed beside him, he found the nearest bug and charged it. It slashed wildly at the man charging it, but he was already upon it. King swung out with his claws, tearing it to shreds.

Boltgun roar was soon drowned out by the screeching death being inflicted on each Tyranid in turn. After only a few minutes of fighting, the enemies fled before the might of the Angelus Mortis veterans. King smiled again, turning around and entering the bastion for the intel that they had been sent for. Retrieving it, he pulled his forces back, another victory under their belt.
Drakur Kanotae Redragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14364856272349247498noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778681439461388364.post-25946471607896078242010-12-11T06:46:00.000-08:002011-04-28T09:48:06.767-07:00Wow...

So it has been a few months since I actually posted anything up here. With my wonderful new job, things have been a little hectic. Something about working 10 hrs a day, 6 days a week at a job that is an hour and a half away makes it a little hard to actually play warhammer or even keep up a blog....or does it?!

I still manage to find times to play. I love kill team for that reason. I come home, make a plate of food, grab my brother, and play a game while I eat. Then I go to bed, wake up the next day, and do it all over again. It's actually quite amusing to do this.

On a different note, I actually decided to try the dreaded bane of magnetizing. It's something I've wanted to do, but I never actually sat down and decided "Hey, I'm going to do this", at least until now. I bought myself a Dremel and 300 little tiny freaking magnets.

Slowly but surely, I've started putting together an Assault Squad using them. It's annoying to get the poles to match up (or not, as the desired case my be), but I've been managing that okay. My biggest problem so far is simple impatience. I magnetized the sergeant's back and his jump pack so that I can remove it should I desire to do so (35 point discount on transports...I'll take that), and it will also allow me to magnetize my sanguinary priests, captains, chaplains, and librarians to wear them as well. So, I glued the magnets in place. I wanted to see if it worked, so I put the two magnets close together and...the magnet pulled out of the jump pack. Crap. Round two...(fight)...glued everything in place, waited a little longer, and tried again...magnet came out of the Sgt's back. Wait, what?! Final round...(fight)...glued it all in place and went the frak to bed.

In the morning, I found that the magnets were now firmly in place, and I now had a removable jump pack. I then drilled out his arm sockets and mounted magnets into the other four jump packs in that kit. It's going quicker now, at least when I can combat my own impatience with it. I'll be posting pictures once I get the squad done up right. Next step, vehicles.........yay.........Drakur Kanotae Redragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14364856272349247498noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778681439461388364.post-19879019863565273192010-09-13T07:52:00.000-07:002011-04-28T09:48:37.149-07:00My new marinesSo, I went to almighty craigslist to see what I could see. I found a lot of imperial guard and space marines with some necrons for $300. I talked the seller down to $200 for the lot, and my brother and I split the cost, as he plays Imperial Guard. What we got amazed me. He pulled in a Baneblade, 2 Basilisks, 2 Leman Russes, Castellan Creed with Color Sergeant Kell, and about 70 Cadian troopers of differing configurations. I got 28 marines, 18 heavy weapons marines, 5 special weapon marines, 12 scouts with 2 missile launchers and 10 sniper rifles, a vindicator, a vindicaire assassin, and some other random pieces. So, without further ado, here are some pictures of that lot...be amazed, be very amazed.
We took some pictures of the battles, so I'll share some with you:
Today, however, I figured it was time to start a record of the exploits of the Angelus Mortis, my successor chapter to the Blood Angels. So, a little history about me:

I started out playing codex marines, mostly because I liked their look, feel, and their adaptability. I also didn't want to play as an alien race, but I didn't want to be a squishy kind of race either (which humans tend to be). So I settled on Space Marines. I knew that I didn't want to be just another Ultramarines player, so I started crafting my own chapter.

This lasted for about six months, but I wanted to make changes to the way the organization worked. I wanted my assault marines to be troop, apothecaries as a separate model, and I wanted to change all of the organization charts. I wanted a highly mobile force, but I couldn't do it properly with the Ultramarines. My boss pointed out that the Blood Angels could do everything that I wanted and more. So now, I play the Blood Angels codex.

I have now started crafting and naming my chapter. I will have all of my chapter posted up here, as well as my exploits in combat and in design. So, for now, signing off.
